Who is your Savior?
Updated 12/24/2006
I'll try to explain what I mean when I say that all of God's creations will return to God (in truth, all have already returned to God, indeed, have never left, but in our timeline, it appears that some are "lost", and hence the need to be "saved").
I'm going to entertain several notions of Reality. These notions are not to be accepted as beliefs. They are useful only as tools to direct one's mind to a different way of thinking.
Every one of God's creations is eternal because every one of God's creations is exactly like God, and God is eternal. Along those lines, what God did not create is not real and therefor has no power in and of itself (what is not real is what the Mind makes up, like fear, anger, guilt, sin, separation, etc.) What is eternal is not lost to God. So what did God create? If we take the notion that God is Love (affirmed three times in the New Testament by Paul), then what God creates is Love. Love begets Love, and only Love. Hence, since we (as Spirit) are Love, we also create Love. In that sense, we (as Spirit, or rather, Love) are co-creators with God.
Now, since we (as Love) are eternal, we (none of us) are not lost. Some of us may not accept the notion that we are Love (one in Spirit with God), and it is that denial that maintains a veil of separation between us and God. Until that veil is lifted (and it will be - eventually), that person (not the Spirit) is unable to enter the Kingdom of Heaven (to be aware of Truth). This implies that a "person", something characteristic of a personality, is different than Spirit, yet is eternal as is Spirit. (How can what is ONE be different?) Think of it this way. You and I and all of God's creations are indivilualizations of God (some call it the Soul). It is those individualizations that have free will to be what they want to be, but in reality can only really be the same as God. So we, you and I, while in the flesh are trying to be something we are not (flesh is therefor an illusion, a dream to be awakened from). While in the flesh, one comes to the illogical conclusion that flesh is all there is, hence the cycle of birth and death. That is the veil of separation between the individualizations of God and God. You might be tempted to say that God is hiding from Himself. Don't go there.
So what is it like to enter the Kingdom of Heaven (to be aware of Truth)? What are the rules for getting "there"?
Lifting the veil of separation is entering the Kingdom of Heaven (awareness of Truth). It's that simple. Nothing more. It starts with acknowledging the Source of Life and denying that which isn't Love. There is no war, no conquest, and no battle between Good and Evil save that which the Mind makes up while wrestling with the issue. Is God real and am I an integral part of that reality? Can I simply accept such a notion? Would it matter if I didn't? Should I or shouldn't I? To be or not to be? That is the question.
My "awakening" came when I realized that my sole purpose in life is "to be". Don't construe this to mean that I am in any way saintly. I am simply somewhat aware of my true nature, that is all. If I were fully aware, I would absolutely know that what I am saying here is Truth. As it is, I can only say that this is the truth as best as I know it.
I think that we each have a purpose in life - to be. Whatever happens during that process, well, it is either drama or it isn't, and that's what the Mind makes of it. Que Sera, Sera. What will be, will be. It's not as "blah" as it sounds.
We do have the power to forge a path for ourselves that is fitting of our Reality (Love, in case you forgot). The Mind is a tool for making that happen. Nothing is impossible to those who believe in the power of Love. And it all starts with just a little bit of creative imagination. After all, our imagination is what got us into this situation, and the way out is the way in.
Pogo said it simply: "We have met the enemy, and they is us!" We get in our own way while trying to unravel the mysteries of life.
The Sword has two edges to cut both ways. Truth is exactly like that in that Truth when improperly weilded can tear asunder (wreak havoc with the Mind), and when properly weilded can separate the real from the unreal.
So I say again, none of God's creations are lost - all will "return" to God. The "return" is nothing more than the lifting of the veil of separation (denial). This may not happen in this lifetime for some of those who live in this lifetime, but it will happen in some lifetime for all who live. Since Spirit is neither Created nor Destroyed (God IS), death is not a factor in our existence (as Spirit). Death is only a factor for the flesh. While you are "in the flesh" (meaning in denial of your reality as Spirit), you are doomed to "die" - but only in the flesh (your Mind will go and all that the Mind considers real will perish with it, but the Spirit emerges eternally in the flesh as long as there is a need for time -- all of this is explained in detail in "A Course In Miracles")
Now, in the words of an Angel who watches over me, get off the pot and live the Christian life (the life of Love, not the doctrine of the church) that makes you ONE with God.
You are not "lost". You do not need to be "saved". You only need to awaken. Remembering your true nature is the key to the Kingdom of Heaven (awareness of Truth).
To paraphrase just a little, "I (that which is Love) am the door (the way In and the way Out - omnipresent), the truth (all that IS - omniscient), and the light (intelligence - omnipotent). All who come by Me (Love) shall sit (at the lower level, symbol of acquiescence of mind to truth; at the higher level, symbol of the Divine nature dominant over the lower) at the right hand (symbol of the active principle in outgoing energy) of God with Me." In other words, I and my Father are ONE. (Ref: Dictionary Of All Scriptures And Myths, G. A. Gaskell, 1973.)
There is no "savior" out there, because there is no need for one. You are your own Guru. The Mind is your only prison. The keeper of the key to that prison is yourself. Love does not "save", but it does redeem.
As it is in Love, so it is in me.
