(This poem was sent to me from a pen pal. It was in response to a poem I wrote as my way of saying that a struggle to understand anything counters the very thing you are trying to understand.)

Soulful Reflections of A Gift of Love

A Tribute to John R. Carter (of Arizona) by Karen White (of West Virginia)
(An adaptation of a poem written by John)

I thought I was unhappy
Until I knew you.
Then all of my thinking
Turned away from the blue.
I tossed in my sleepless,
Forlorn empty nights,
Betrayed myself to
The creatures of fright.
Be gone! I did pray for
My soul to find peace.
My eyes couldn't see the
Simple path to release.
You stayed by my side 'till
At last I let go
Of the horrors of mindlessly
Making it so.
You gave of yourself in the
Most gentle of ways.
You remained consistent in
My deepest of haze.
Until finally my heart
Opened right up.
At last, from the chalice
of peace I could sup.
Who could have guessed
That through sharing of thought
My mind would be freed
And my happiness be bought?
I bathe in the joy that
Your giving has brought.
My freedom releases me
To share the lessons you've taught!
How does one say thank you
For a special gift of love straight from the heart?
For a sacred moment, you were the angel
To open my eyes as to where genuine freedom must start.
Where is heaven?
Sweet child of God, empty your mind.
Heaven is right there inside you
And easy to find.
Don't look to the right
and not to the left.
Look to your soul
And how it's been blessed.
Give unto others
As has been given to you.
The message is kindness and
A peace that is true.
Your journey is love
Pink Rose
And the love it is you!
